Community.

Creekside is more than a Sunday program… much more.  Creekside is not just a gathering of people for an hour sitting in rows in an auditorium; it is a community sharing life around a table.  Our goal is to move from the Sunday gathering to a lifestyle of sharing from Monday through to Sunday.

To be a family of missionaries called to live out our identity in Christ as His disciples.

Identity.

Family.

The church is a family.  We are brothers and sisters in Christ, and this profoundly shapes our life together.  God calls us to love one another as he has loved us.  As the family of God, we take time each week to eat together, pray together, and share life together.  It is in this ordinary rhythm of life in community that we become transformed to look like Jesus.

Missionaries.

Jesus sends us out into the world as missionaries.  He commissions us to make disciples of all nations, and neighbourhoods.  He sends us out on a mission to shine his light into the world.  The church is God’s primary mission strategy for the world.  As a community we want to encourage each other to be on this mission together.

Disciples.

Jesus calls us to be his Disciple.  We desire our community groups to be places where people are learning to love and live like Jesus.  We walk with people wherever they’re at on their journey of faith and help each other become more and more like Jesus.

3 Features of Community.

Authentic Relationships.

Gathering together is essential to creating authentic community, and this opens up a space to love and care for each other and develop deep relationships of trust and encouragement.  This is where friendships go deeper, where we edify, encourage, challenge and admonish one another in love.

All the believers devoted themselves to… fellowship, and to sharing in meals.
Acts 3:42

Prayer.

Our Community Groups are committed to pray together and for each other.  Not just when you gather, but regularly bringing each other to God in prayer.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
James 5:16

God’s Word.

Our Community Groups regularly open and delve into God’s word as it is the living, breathing revelation of God himself.  The Bible is God’s Gospel story to all people and guides us on our journey of faith.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
