At the heart of what God has called us to, as his Church, is the Great Commission from Matthew 28:19: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” Every Christian and every local expression of the Church is called by Jesus to make disciples. Over recent months, our leadership team has prayerfully wrestled with this question: What exactly does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? Through studying Scripture, seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and reflecting deeply together, we have arrived at a simple mission statement that captures our calling:
“We exist to delight, display and declare Jesus, for His glory & our joy.”
This is not just a statement, it is a call to live as true disciples of Jesus: delighting in God’s presence, displaying the image of Christ, and declaring His gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit.
